Tournament Advice Part III: Avoiding Theft

At any major convention, theft isn't an unfortunate occurance, its a reality. You need to prepare for it, or rather how to avoid it happening to you. The first thing you need to do is to keep all of your stuff confined to one backpack. Keeping up with 2 backpacks is unweildy at best. This also serves the purpose of keeping all of your stuff together. Most of the theft that occurs happens when the theif sees an abandoned deck box and just snatches it up off the table never to be seen again. By keeping your gear all consolidated its harder for a perspective theif to get your gear, although its not unheard of for an entire backpack to go missing.

The second thing you need to do is to never leave your gear unattended. If you have to go somewhere either take it with you or leave it with someone you'd trust with it. If you choose to leave it with someone else, then make sure that person is aware that they're watching your gear. Almost always theft occurs when the gear is unattended.

The last thing you should take into consideration is that you should be more aware of your surroundings, and if you do that its very unlikely you'll be the victim of theft.

Good Gaming,
